Along with a bold new design, the KTM Duke 390 gets a host of mechanical and technological upgrades for the 2017 model year. The all-new Duke 390 has a new trellis frame that features a bolt-on rear subframe in contrasting colours, a larger fuel tank that can store 13.4 litres of petrol (up from 11 litres), a side-mounted exhaust system (replacing the underbelly unit), revised rider and passenger seats and adjustable hand levers.

Some changes have been made to the dimensions as well. The wheelbase has been reduced by 10 mm to 1,357 mm, the ground clearance has been increased by 15 mm to 185 mm and the seat height has been increased by 30 mm to 830 mm. The dry weight has increased by 10 kg to 149 kg.

Like the outgoing model, the 2017 KTM Duke 390 sports a 373.2 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 32 kW (44 hp) and 37 Nm of torque. The upgraded engine delivers 2 Nm more torque, and is compliant to the Euro IV emission norms. Power is transferred via a 6-speed transmission. Other highlights include ride-by-wire system, LED headlight, LED daytime running lights consisting of 20 LEDs, colour TFT instrument panel and KTM MY RIDE for smartphone tethering.

Providing the stopping power, is a new braking system developed in cooperation with Brembo. The front wheel has a 320 mm disc brake with four-piston radial fixed calliper, while the rear wheel has a 230 mm disc brake with a single-piston floating calliper. The braking system is governed by the Bosch 9MB two-channel ABS.
