Triumph completes 3 years in India and inaugurates its 14th dealership in the country.
Speaking to Indian Autos Blog during the inauguration of their 14th dealership in India, Mr Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph India, said that they will not be adding a new product to the iconic British classic range. So the wait for the recently unveiled Triumph Street Cup and Triumph Bobber may be longer than expected. The Bonneville range in India currently includes the Street Twin, T100, T120 and Thruxton R.
With the Bonneville range peaking, we asked him about the future of the Bonneville range in India, he said:
We believe the current range is exciting and we will want to focus our energy on that. The models are very high-tech with features like liquid cooling and ride by wire. We just introduced the Bonneville T100, and we have already sold 250 units of these bikes, so we would like to concentrate on them for now.
While a lot of Indian, Japanese and now even European players have been working at the entry point, Triumph believes in being the best in one thing. That right now is the premium segment. They hold a 96 percent market share in the premium Adventure segment in India, a territory which they unofficially created in the country.
The company has invested heavily in their product range and include all five broad categories of premium motorcycling. These include the Classics, Roadsters, Adventure, Supersport and Tourers. The facility in Manesar is one of the only two centres in the world where Triumph has a CKD assembly setup (the other being in Brazil).
