Royal Enfield Continental GT twin-cylinder variant spotted testing

Will put out close to 45 bhp.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT has been spied testing with a twin-cylinder, possibly 750 cc engine in the UK. While images of the engine fitted in the bike were already spied, this is the first confirmation that the company is seriously racking up test miles on the future flagship.

The Continental GT currently on sale is powered by a 535 cc engine that makes 29 hp. With the bike being repeatedly beaten by the more powerful Harley Davidson Street 750 in monthly sales, it seems like the Chennai-based company is finally taking the competition head on. According to previous reports, the 750 cc engine from Royal Enfield is likely to produce around 45-50 bhp. The Street 750, on the other hand, produces 47 bhp from its twin-cylinder power unit. The American manufacturer’s offering retails at Rs 4.69 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Going by the images, the 750 cc version of the cafe racer isn’t expected to undergo any major changes to its frame. It is likely to retain its telescopic front suspension, Paioli gas charged dampers for the rear, dual-caliper front and single-caliper disc brakes.
