Mass production to begin next month.
Autocar Professional reports that the 2016 Suzuki Access 125 will soon be exported to Nepal and Sri Lanka. The model made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 last month and was launched in India earlier this week at INR 53,887 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The second generation Access was developed over a period of 24 months. Suzuki Motorcycle India does not have its own R&D centre and hence the development took place in Japan. The new Access uses an improved version of the same engine and a new chassis which have collectively reduced the weight of the scooter by 14 kg, as revealed by Suresh Babu, National Head of Product Planning and Marketing, SMIPL.
Babu added that there was no substitution of material to make the frame lighter, instead the chassis was changed to a new, round tubular design and latest technologies were applied to retain the same strength and stability.
The new engine that is based on SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology weighs 6 kg lighter than the motor on the previous Access. He mentioned to the publication, “Altogether, the suspension and the economy get better while the comfort level has increased.”

The mass production of the scooter is scheduled to commence next month, with deliveries shortly after.
