Royal Enfield today unveiled the Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure tourer. Prices for the motorcycle will be revealed in mid-March 2016.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by an all-new 411 cc engine.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by a new 411 cc single-cylinder SOHC carburetted air-cooled engine capable of 24.5 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of torque between 4,000-4,500 rpm. A 5-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch provides the transmission.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan rests on a half-duplex split-cradle frame and gets telescopic 41 mm forks (with 200 mm of travel) at the front and monoshock linkage at the rear (180 mm travel). At the tape, the Royal Enfield Himalayan measures 1,465 mm in wheelbase, 220 mm in ground clearance, 2,190 mm in length, 840 mm in width, 800 mm in seat height, 1,360 mm in height (flyscreen top) and weighs 182 kg. The fuel tank is good for 15 (+/- 0.5) liters.
The Himalayan puts out 24.5 bhp and 32 Nm of torque.
The Himalayan is shod with 90/90-21 inch wheel at the front and 120/90-17-inch at the rear. Stopping power comes from a 300 mm disc (2-piston floating caliper) at the front and a 240 mm disc with a single piston floating caliper at the rear. According to the company, the Himalayan is a new motorcycle ground up, not a single part is borrowed from the parts bin, the company’s CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Siddhartha Lal stated.
The tourer gets an LED taillight, a 12V DC electrical system with a 12V H4 60/55W headlight and a 12V 8Ah battery. The company has also announced a range of accessories for the Himalayan focusing on the touring community.
