BMW had nothing to do with the Apache.
When asked about BMW Motorrad’s involvement in developing the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V given that the two companies have a cooperation not limited to the production of the BMW G310R, Vinay Harne, Head of R&D at TVS Motor Company, told IndianAutosBlog that the Apache 200 was developed from ground up by TVS Motor Company like any other model and that there was no technology or patent sharing with the Munich-based company.
BMW Motorrad has a long-term agreement with TVS Motor Company according to which TVS will manufacture motorcycles that are developed by BMW in Munich.
Last year, Indonesian blogs reported that the Apache 200’s cooling system was derived from the BMW GS series of motorcycles. When asked about that, Harne implied that the company did not specifically consult BMW for any system from any BMW bike, and that the cooling system may or may not carry a resemblance just as much as it would compared to any other bike with a similar technology.
TVS denies any knowledge sharing or consultation from BMW Motorrad for the development of the cooling system on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.

He reasserted that BMW Motorrad had no connection to the development of the Apache RTR 200. Harne declined to comment on the TVS U69 which is believed to be the codename of the TVS version of the BMW G310R in a fully faired avatar. He also declined to talk about the second BMW-TVS product which is believed to be an adventure tourer in the mid-size segment.
