The bike pays tribute to the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 ‘Flying Flea,’ used during World War 2. When IAB probed about the kind of response the company has received for the Pegasus Edition on Saturday, Mr. Rudratej Singh, President – Royal Enfield, said -

Yeah, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition goes on sale shortly. Suffice it to say we will sell out within a few seconds, even faster than the Royal Enfield Classic Squadron Blue edition. I mean it depends on how fast you are with the online process. I will not share the numbers, but they are in multitudes of thousands who have shown interest, which is not a surprise to us. And we didn’t want to price it higher because we want to make it accessible. We will remain authentic, yet an accessible brand.

The Pegasus Edition is limited to 1,000 units globally, with 250 units assigned for India. Buyers will also get military-style canvas panniers with a Pegasus Logo, a t-shirt from the Pegasus collection and one helmet. The bike carries a price tag of GBP 4,999 (INR 4.58 lakh) on the road in the UK.

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition is available in two colour options - Olive Drab Green and Service Brown. However, India only gets the Service Brown paint scheme. The bike features a maroon and blue Pegasus emblem (official Parachute Regiment badge) on the fuel tank along with a serial number, while a 'Made Like a Gun' decal adorns the battery box. All the logos and insignias on the special-edition bike are identical to the actual World War 2 Flying Flea motorcycle, which was used by the 250th (Airborne) Light Company.

The Classic 500 Pegasus Edition features brown handlebar grips and a leather strap with brass buckles across the air filter, while the silencer, headlight bezel, rims and kickstart pedal get matte black treatment. Royal Enfield has also introduced a range of official Pegasus accessories like t-shirts, helmets, lapel pins, caps, etc. to accompany the limited-edition model.
