A low-cost variant of Mahindra’s flagship motorcycle, the Mahindra Mojo, was spotted testing in Lonavala, Maharashtra, picture courtesy Rushlane.
The test motorcycle sports a traditional front fork instead of the standard upside down unit; and carburettor instead of a fuel injector. The tread marks on the tyre are different from the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II’s in standard Mojo indicating that the tires might be a lower spec version, likely MRF rubber. The bike also does away with the twin horn setup in favour for a single unit. Rushlane reports that the bike features single exhaust for further cost-cutting. Expect the engine output of the bike to reduce marginally owing to the carburettor. A test mule with single exhaust and skinnier tyres was spotted in July this year.

The standard Mahindra Mojo employs a 295cc single cylinder, DOHC engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The mill pairs with a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 27 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 30 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.
The suspension bits include upside down front fork and gas-charged monoshock at the rear. For braking, the bike employs 320 mm petal disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. The alloy wheels are shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres with 110-section front and 150-section rear.

Since the low cost variant of the bike gives up on a number of features, expect a price reduction of INR 30,000-40,000 over the price of the standard bike. The standard variant costs INR 1,72,020, ex-showroom Delhi. Mahindra is likely to launch the bike in 2018 and will rival the Yamaha Fazer 25 and Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the segment.
