Becomes the top selling two wheeler company in 8 states and 1 union territory.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) yesterday announced that it has become the leading two wheeler seller in 8 states and 1 union territory. These markets are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Kerala, and Chandigarh.
Honda has over 50 percent market share in the scooter segment in 27 states.
The company has also mentioned that it has topped the charts for the first time in the Gujarat, Punjab and Delhi. In Maharashtra, the company has secured a 40 percent market share, with a 67 percent in the scooter category. Overall, HMSI claims that its market share has increased in 19 states, and its presence in the scooter segment is over 50 percent in 27 states. This was determined by the latest sales figures issued by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) for the first quarter of the 2015-16 financial year.
The Honda Activa has long been the top selling scooter in India.
The Japanese brand’s market share in the automatic scooter segment is registered to be over 80 percent in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, while the same is over 70 percent in 3 states – Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
