Will not be launched in India, at least not immediately.
KTM owned Husqvarna unveiled three concept motorcycles at the International Motorcycle Expo in Milan last year (2014 EICMA), two of which were the 401 Vitpilen and the 401 Svartpilen. According to Morebikes.co.uk, both motorcycles will be launched in the UK in 2017.
The Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen and the 401 Svartpilen are based on the KTM Duke 390.
As per the website, one of Husqvarna’s two managing directors, Reinhold Zens, said “I can tell you that they will come as 2017 models. They may not look the same. A concept is, after all, a designer’s dream, while a finished model must follow rules and regulations, but they will definitely have the same style.”
This aligns with earlier reports that quotes KTM CEO Stefan Pierer saying that the Husqvarna’s 401 concepts will enter production in the 2016-17 fiscal year.
The Svartpilen and the Vitpilen will be manufactured in Chakan from sometime in 2016-17 fiscal year, but only for exports.
Further, it is to be noted that Pierer had divulged then that the modern scramblers-cum-café racer concepts are already close to their production versions, and that they will be produced at Bajaj Auto’s manufacturing plant in Chakan, Maharashtra.
Although Husky is said to eventually enter India, the 401 concepts, both based on KTM Duke 390’s platform and powertrain, will be produced only for exports, to the European markets. The Chakan facility will make CKD kits for the motorcycles, which will take a detour to Mattighofen, Austria where the assembly will take place before reaching the British shores.
