The BSIV variant of the Royal Enfield Himalayan is set to launch in the first week of September, as per dealers who IAB spoke to. Deliveries will begin by the second week of September. The estimated on-road, Delhi price is INR 2 lakh. Dealers are taking bookings for a token amount of INR 5,500.

Two months ago, we had spoken to Mr Rudratej Singh, President, Royal Enfield. He revealed that the BSIV version of the bike will be launched soon. Mr Singh said:
We are still working on the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 project. (Fuel injected version? we ask) Yes, Yes, we are going to be coming out very soon with that. Other than that we are very, very delighted with the performance of the Himalayan. I am very confident about the future of the motorcycle.

The BS4 Himalayan will feature fuel-injection but the engine is the same 411 cc SOHC single cylinder unit and makes 24.5 bhp of power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. For transmission, a 5-speed gearbox does duty in the bike. The frame is a half-duplex split-cradle type. The bike uses 41 mm telescopic front forks with 200 mm of travel. For the rear, it uses a monoshock with linkage that offers 180 mm of travel. The bike employs a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc for anchorage.
