TVS Motor Company has won a patent for a new headlamp mounting arrangement. A report in Business Standard reveals that the assembly will protect the front cover of the vehicle from potential damage where a conventional headlight may not.
This new assembly will help improve the life of the front portion of the two wheeler. The repair cost will also come down in the case of an accident. A traditional headlamp assembly is attached to a handlebar of a motorcycle, and the front cover contains all the other signalling devices. The controls are usually present in the rear cover.
Headlamp assembly fixtures and the front cover bears the substantial weight of the headlamp and is usually made of plastic. This reduces the durability of the front cover. It may loosen and even break in some cases, which will cause the headlamp assembly to dismantle.
In the newly patented layout, the load of the headlamp assembly is transferred to the handlebar of the motorcycle. This eliminates the possibility of fixture breaking under stress. The report also adds that this new headlamp setup can be used in three wheelers, ATVs as well as other vehicles.
TVS Motor Company is at present gearing up to launch its most powerful and first fully faired motorcycle. The TVS Apache RR 310S bears a powerplant borrowed from the BMW G310R. The bike will focus on usable performance and come loaded with premium features.
The TVS Apache RR 310S will launch in the next few months and is expected to carry a price tag of under INR 2 lakhs.
