The Honda Activa has claimed a new record in sales, as 10 lakh units of the scooter were sold in just 5 months (April – August 2015). This makes it the first two wheeler to have crossed sales of a million units in a five-month period. The Activa is retailed in 3 variants – Activa 3G, Activa-i and Activa 125 – and the sales figure is cumulative
A total of 10 lakh units of scooters from the Honda Activa brand have been sold between April and August 2015.
This record makes the Honda Activa the largest selling two-wheeler in India this financial year. According to Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), it is the best selling two wheeler in the country for 3 consecutive months, outselling the Hero Splendor.
The Activa nameplate contributes to 51 percent of the sales of the scooter segment in India. It is said to have grown 20 times in sales volume compared to the growth of the Indian two wheeler industry as a whole, in the April to August time period of 2015.
In August 2015, sales of all variants of Honda Activa combined, summed up to 2.17 lakh units.
