Hero MotoCorp is further drifting away from Honda engines.
Hero MotoCorp has removed three models from its Indian website – Hero HF Dawn, Hero Splendor Pro Classic and Hero Splendor iSmart. All three use the 97.2 cc mill which is sourced from Honda.
The Hero HF Dawn was the cheapest Hero motorcycle on sale in India and with its discontinuation, Hero’s most affordable motorcycle is the Hero HF Deluxe which has a sticker price of INR 42,830 (ex-showroom Delhi). The second motorcycle to be discontinued is the Hero Splendor Pro Classic which is shaped like a café racer. Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, the bike was the most affordable café racer in the country, with seating for just the rider.

The Hero Splendor iSmart is not supposed to be confused with the new 110 cc Splendor iSmart launched in July 2016. When it launched in 2014, the Splendor iSmart was the first motorcycle in the country to feature start/stop system. Called the i3S technology, the system shut down the engine when the rider stops for some time, say at a traffic light.
The new 110 cc Torque on Demand engine which replaces the Hero engine, is coupled to a 4-speed gearbox and is capable of producing 9.4 PS of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 9 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.
