KTM motorcycles with its sporty nature target the youth in the country.
A report in Hindu Business Line reveals that 60 percent of KTM motorcycles are sold in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. As per Mr Amit Nandi, President, Probiking, Bajaj Auto, customers in these states buy a KTM for the ‘love of a bike’.
KTM India launched the 2017 KTM RC200 and 2017 KTM RC390 in January while the 2017 KTM Duke 200, 2017 KTM Duke 250 and 2017 KTM Duke 390 were launched in February. The KTM brand entered the Indian market in 2012 and the Austrian bike maker expects India to emerge as their largest market globally.
Mr Nandi said:
The real biking States for us are the four in the South and Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, we hope to be No 1 in six months though this will take slightly longer in Tamil Nadu where the gap is longer. We hope that growth will continue for us and believe there will be an inflection point, which is not too far away in the INR 1-2.5 lakh segment. KTM will benefit the most when this happens.
KTM India at present has 330 dealerships spread over 220 cities. In the coming years, KTM wants to increase this to 500 showrooms and raise the city count by 150.
KTM motorcycles in India start at INR 1.43 lakhs and go up to INR 2.25 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
