Yamaha Motor India has launched the new Yamaha R15 S in India at a price of Rs. 1,14,741 (ex-showroom New Delhi). The model was unveiled at the ongoing 2015 Nepal Auto Show, following which the Indian launch was announced.

The new Yamaha R15 S is more expensive than the familiar split seat model.
The Yamaha R15 S can be described as a combination of the R15 Version 1.0’s styling and the Version 2.0’s powertrain. The similarity of the older generation R15’s rear end in the new YZF-R15 S is the result of installing a conventional, single seat. Apart from this, the Yamaha R15 S features new body graphics and is offered in three colours: Track White, Adrenalin Red and Spark Green.
The single seat model has been developed based on the market feedback pertaining to the lack of comfort on the current V2.0 model’s split pillion seat.

The R15 S is offered in three colour themes.
Roy Kurian, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India, said that the company’s research showed that a specific customer segment preferred a single seat version of the R15 which is more convenient for the pillion rider.

The R15 S is developed specifically for pillion rider comfort.
The new variant is powered by the same 149.8 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with SOHC, capable of producing 17 PS at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The motor is paired with a a 6-speed gearbox.
