The Bangladeshi market has capacity restrictions due to which motorcycles beyond 150 cc cannot be sold.
Uttara Motors is planning to commence manufacturing motorcycles in Bangladesh from June 2017. The bikes will be made in technical association with Bajaj Auto reveals a video on BikeBD.
Bajaj presently retails the CT 100, Platina, Discover, V and Pulsar brand in Bangladesh via a tie-up with Uttara Motors which retail in the price range of BDT 95,500 to BDT 223,500. Uttara Motors is also the authorised distributor of Maruti Suzuki cars and Isuzu (UVs and CVs) in Bangladesh.
Uttara Motors aims to begin manufacturing as early as June 2017 with a capacity of 60,000 units per annum. With time they intend to take the number up to 2.5 lakh units per annum. These figures sound fairly ambitious because the Bangladeshi motorcycle market at present comprises of around 1.5 lakh units per annum.

It is not clear yet if these motorcycles will be badged as Bajaj products or will be introduced under a new name. However, local production will certainly help bring down the prices, giving them an edge over the imports.
KTM too has been reported to be planning to enter the Bangladeshi market with the KTM Duke 125 and KTM RC125.
