New scooters expected to launch in weeks.
Hero MotoCorp has announced that it will bring back product development to India. The company is in the process of shifting resources to India, to resume what was paused after U.S.-based EBR filed for bankruptcy this April.
Development of the HX250R will be completed in-house.
Hero MotoCorp’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Pawan Munjal divulged that there will be a delay in the launch of products that were being developed with EBR, but did not reveal the span of push back.
Hero MotoCorp’s new innovation facility in Jaipur, will be inaugurated early next year.
Regarding future plans of technology partnership, Mr. Munjal, said at the inaugural general meeting of SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), that the company is indeed open to source technology from international firms, but as of now, all the R&D work on near-future products will be done in-house.
The HX250R was revealed prior to the Auto Expo 2014, and is claimed to hit 100 km/h in 9 seconds.

Apart from the quarter-litre sports bike – the Hero HX250R which will be the first fully-faired motorcycle from the largest two wheeler maker – the company has two brand new scooter models in the pipeline. The scooters, which are expected to be the Maestro Edge and the Duet, are expected to arrive in showrooms within a matter of weeks, Mr. Munjal said.
