Royal Enfield continues to attract customers with its classical retro appeal.
2016 ended on a high for Royal Enfield. With 477,688 units sold in the financial year 2016-17 so far, their tally is 35 percent higher than last year’s figures. April to December 2015 sales stood at 354,025 units.
This fiscal, Royal Enfield showcased a Euro 4 compliant, fuel-injected Royal Enfield Himalayan at EICMA. In November, Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan in Australia and Colombia. Their first exclusive gear store (outside India) was also opened in Jakarta.
In India, Royal Enfield added 117 dealerships which resulted, thus raising the total dealerships to 642 touch points. December 2016, which was a relatively slow performance by most manufacturers due to the effect of demonetisation, saw Royal Enfield grow 41 percent on a year on year basis with sales of 56,316 units. December 2015 figures stood at 40,037 units.
Exports between April 2016 to December 2016 has risen rapidly at 78 percent with the number standing at 10,574 units as against 5,943 units in the same period last year.
Royal Enfield is expected to launch a new twin cylinder motorcycle with a displacement of about 750 cc around March 2017. They recently launched the Redditch series of the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
